Count vs Claude: Check Claude's Answers Before You Share [2026]

Claude is one of the strongest reasoners available, and a confident reasoner is the hardest to check. Count shows the reasoning chain under every claim Claude makes.

Count is a collaborative platform for AI-powered research and analysis that shows the reasoning chain behind every AI answer. Claude, made by Anthropic, is one of the most capable assistants for reasoning and writing, and many Count customers use it every day. The two are built to work together: add Count to Claude as a custom connector and check any answer without leaving the conversation.

Think in Claude. Check in Count, before the answer goes to anyone who will act on it.

Can't I just ask Claude where it got its answer?

You can, and Claude will usually tell you. But checking that way is manual, and it does not scale past a short answer:

  • You ask claim by claim. A market sizing or a strategy recommendation can rest on dozens of claims, and each needs its own follow-up prompt.
  • The account is self-reported. Claude describes its reasoning after the fact. It is usually right, but it can misremember where a figure came from or present an assumption as a finding. We looked at why in Why does Claude become confidently wrong?
  • You keep the score. Which claims were sourced, which were assumed, which ones the conclusion depends on: that ledger lives in your head or a spreadsheet.

Count does the whole job at once. It rebuilds the reasoning from what actually happened in the conversation, each search, document and calculation, rather than from Claude's own description of it. Every claim lands in one of four groups: cited, assumed, drawn from the model's memory, or unsupported. The weak ones stand out without a single follow-up prompt.

What does checking a Claude answer in Count look like?

Copy your MCP URL from Count's integration settings and add it to Claude as a custom connector. When an answer matters, ask Claude to audit it with Count. Count replies with a link to a canvas holding every claim and the reasoning chain under it. There is no special prompt, and Count imports only the reasoning it needs, not your whole chat history.

Right facts, wrong conclusion

The most expensive AI errors are often not invented facts. They are true facts arranged into a conclusion that does not follow: a trend read from a single data point, a cause inferred from a coincidence, an assumption carried forward until it reads like a result. We call this the hidden AI hallucination. Count's chain shows the steps between the evidence and the recommendation, so you can see exactly where an argument jumps.

Why teams take Claude's work into Count

  • Every claim checked, automatically. No follow-up prompts and no ledger to keep.
  • One shared place for the work. A Claude chat is worked by one person. On a Count canvas, colleagues open any claim, comment on it, correct it and take the research further in real time.
  • Team-wide skills. Claude Skills help one person's Claude. Count's agent skills are shared across the workspace, so two people researching the same question get answers built the same way.
  • No rationing. Claude limits usage per five-hour session on every plan, including Team and Enterprise (pricing). Count's Pro plan includes unlimited AI credits on a fair-use basis.
  • Your data, when you need it. Count connects natively to your warehouse and shows every query it runs. Claude reaches warehouses through MCP connectors.

“It's no longer a mystery how and why an analyst made certain choices in their work; and the transparency of those choices allows us to improve them as a collective.” - Ruth Woodard, Analytics Manager at Cleo (review on G2)
